Background
The Ghana Club 100 (GC 100) was launched in 1998 by the Ghana Investment Promotion Center (GIPC) to recognize the best performing companies in Ghana. The GC 100 is about corporate excellence. Companies making into the GC 100 are to serve as role models to the private sector and provide a forum for corporate Ghana to interact with the government at high level.
The objectives underlying the GC 100 are Programme are:
  • To develop an open information culture within the corporate sector;
  • To develo0p a uniform criteria for evaluating corporate performance;
  • To establish an annual current analysis of Ghana’s Corporate Sector;
  • To provide incentives for improved corporate performance;
  • To provide both local and external exposure to selected enterprises;
  • To target Government support and intervention to enhance the international competitiveness of Ghanaian enterprises and provide information and strategies for private sector development.
  • To encourage good corporate governance particularly, transparency, disclosure and accountability.
  • To use selected enterprise as growth poles for private sector development in the country.

The 2005 GC 100 markings marks the eighth edition of the GC 100 and comes with a fifth addition to the ranking criteria.

The five parameters used in this years rankings were, Size, Profitability, Growth, Full-time Employees and Corporate Social Responsibility.
