Produce Buying Company Ltd. is the major licensed buying company involved in the internal marketing of cocoa. Currently, the company controls about 40% of the market share in the cocoa purchasing business. Until December 1999, PBC was wholly owned subsidiary of the Ghana Cocoa Board. The reintroduction of multiple buying system in the internal marketing of cocoa in 1993/4 and the subsequent privatization and listing of the company on the Ghana Stock Exchange in May 2000 changed its outlook and organizational culture. PBC operates in all cocoa growing areas through the strong and well coordinated operational and management structures.
