The Upper Manya Kro Rural Bank (UMKRB) was incorporated as Limited Liability Company in 1982. The Head office is located at Asesewa in the Manya Krobo District in the Eastern Region. It has two agencies at Koforidua and  Somanya and six mobilization centres at Asokore, Nkurakan, Agogo, Obawale, Sesesua and Akateng, all in the Eastern Region.UMKRB is currently one of the fastest growing rural abnks in the country. The bank within the next  two years hopes to achieve the following objectives; (1) Be among the first ten rural banks in the country and the first rural bank in the Eastern Region;(2) Gain international recognition  as the centre of  excellence in microfinance;(3) Computerize and network its operations;(4) Complete the first floor of its head office and create marketing and human resource departments;(5) Institute educational scholarship schemes for 100 students and introduce micro leasing, insurance and grain banking.
